LitRPG Book Review: Fragged - By: Zachariah Dracoulis
Review By: Angel Ramon Medina
Before I start the review, I like to thank Zachariah Dracoulis for the opportunity to join his growing group on Facebook called, LitRPG Rebels! It's an up and coming group for those who are into fantasy, RPG's, Science Fiction, Video Games, and books with these elements. Plenty of cool people in the group so far and more to come, loving the group so far. This is my first LitRPG read and looking forward to the next. So without further ado, let's get the review started!
Disclaimer: this review will be a bit different as it's a LitRPG book which has additional elements which make it different from normal books.
RPG/Game Elements: 95/100
The game has plenty of gaming elements and it's clearly outlined in the book so the reader can follow easily. However, the system messages are funny as heck and represent when the game just wants to be a complete asshole. Funny as heck and kept me amused!
Story: 96/100
The story is about a gamer who gets stabbed in the back and has to start the game all over again. The main character reminds me of myself when I have to restart a frustrating level on a video game. I refuse to spoil too much of the story, but there are dinosaurs, weapons, and plenty of pick-ups to be found if you're a lover of RPG gaming.
Dialogue: 88/100
The Dialogue is lots of ranting and cussing. However, to be fair the blurb does warn the reader that there will be lots of that in the book. Actually, the dialogue is well done if you don't mind the ranting. For me, it did catch me off guard a little, but it blends well with the comedic nature of the book.
Overall Power Score: 93/100
For my first real LitRPG read I was really impressed, I liked the pre-historic setting. It's kind of a gutsy time setting to go for in an MMORPG world. I loved the comedy presented by the game text and it kept me amused throughout the story, sometimes making me want to go into the world and smash the MC. The game stats are there and are not too confusing either. Overall just a great book to start my LitRPG reading journey, well-done mate! Can't wait for part 2.
