Halloween: A day filled with promise!

Hey everyone, good morning there! I hope everyone had a great, but more importantly a safe Halloween. As for my Halloween and at my age there isn't much to look forward to in the traditional sense. However, as a writer of LitRPG Horror there was much promise for my book sales in the horror genre. Like what's better than reading a nice scary read on a cool Halloween night? I was thinking of this day since the end of August when I began my secret project called Nemesis. It's the third book of the Angel's Nightmare Adventure series and it had a release date of a few days before Halloween. I planned for this to be another bestseller and a hot seller for the horror seekers out there. In essence Halloween was planned to probably be one of my best-selling days if not my best of all time in my short writing stint.
Sadly of course those plans were shot when Hurricane Maria decided to deliver her own dose of terror to my hometown in Puerto Rico. The storm hit September 19th - 20th and I had to endure a month of terror as the island was decimated. I would end up being out of power for over 3 weeks and I was saddened that I would miss the deadline for Nemesis. This is the first deadline that I would miss and while things are improving, missing this deadline did hurt me quite a bit. I'm happy to say I'm back in NY with family and will return to PR soon, but in the meantime I have caught up with some writing.
Now back to Halloween. Yesterday was still a great sales day for me. I would like to share some numbers with you as I normally don't do so, but I like to show that I'm not gone from the face of the Earth, lol.
Angel's Nightmare Adventure ended up with 25 sales and close to 4,200 KU reads for the 31st alone. That might not sound like alot, but remember that it is a rather short book. Angel's Nightmare Adventure 2: The Nightmare Continues sold 18 copies but did alot better on KU reads with close to 10,000 KU reads. Both books got down to the 2,000 level on Amazon, which is great considering that I was unable to release Nemesis. I'm sure numbers would have been greater had Nemesis came out as scheduled. I hit #93 in horror on Amazon as well, which was awesome as well.
Although a surprise did come about and that was my political thriller, Janus: The Devil's Election sold rather well yesterday as well. It sold 15 copies and got close to 10,000 KU reads as well. I guess the fact Donald Trump being POTUS does qualify as being horror as well, lol. Well that does make up a little bit that Nemesis did not come out for Halloween. Now I will rely on the rather busy holiday season coming up to make up the difference.
Overall, it was a great Halloween and I made some decent money, but it could have been better. At the same time though, I'm grateful that I'm alive and well and that I still sold decently for Halloween. It just shows that no matter how well you plan ahead, something can always rear its ugly head and screw things up for you. It's up to the person on how they take it though. So until next time, be well and let's look forward to the next holiday, Thanksgiving!
