TTYW - Behind the Scenes: Market Melee

Well I'm bored, lol. After my new book being on preorder and sent off to the editor, I have to wait. So I decided that I will entertain my fans even more today with a bonus edition of TTYW - Behind the Scenes and dig into yet another level in the Life's a Beach Expansion Pack. This time we're off to the second level of the expansion, Market Melee.

I don't have any complaints about this one either, this is another action packed level with Duke doing battle with the aliens in the local farmers market. Overall, slightly more difficult than the first level as some of the more powerful class of aliens are introduced. A nice cool level with a few secrets and one that leads to a secret level if one is wonderous enough to find it.

As seen above this level introduces the assault commander, a classic pain in the butt for Duke players, but quite new for readers of The Thousand Years War series. A quick description of the Assault Commander, a disgusting mutated creature that looks like spoiled oatmeal gone really bad. It can launch coconuts out of its rectum as the commander above is ready to do to poor duke.

Here's a quick blurb on the level:

Angel and Ben are arrested back in the resort by a surprise attack close to the front door of the resort. They are placed in a jail cell across the street from the market. However, by some stroke of luck an out of control bus hits the cell and creates an escape route for the two. The two must fight through the farmers market in Ponce and find a way to get back to the others. Doesn't the scene remind you of a popular show?

If you said Hawaii Five-O, then you are correct. Yup this level is in homage to the CBS hit detective show based out of Hawaii, only this level takes place in Puerto Rico. Oh Jack Lord, how we miss you playing the MC and how I miss the good old days before CBS had to reboot the series, although its not half bad in its own respect.

Secrets of Market Melee:

- As noted above, this level is devoted to Hawaii Five-O and the classic market scenes.

- In the general store a huge poster of a cha-cha dancer leads to a secret. In fact it leads to a small hidden dock where fishermen gather their catch for the day.

- Within the dock, a secret level can be found. One has to think very low though to find it.

- This level takes place in the "Paseo Tablado La Guancha" or close to the boardwalk in the La Guancha region of Ponce. (If you go to Puerto Rico, this should be one of your stops!)

- The docks is a rather scary place for pig cops for obvious reasons if one thinks carefully...

- Ponce is only a few towns to the west where I reside in Puerto Rico (Salinas)
