TTYW - Behind the Scenes: A Full House

Today is another edition of TTYW - Behind the Scenes, this time though only if you're part of my fan club will you get first looks at this post and future posts. However, for this post I will make it public so you get an opportunity to join my cool facebook group. Now that I got that out of the way, we are heading to the first "secret level" of the book. It's called "A Full House".

The level takes place in a casino in Ponce with a seafood restaurant on the top floor. It's rather basic in design and they're no real secret areas. In fact, this has no secret areas to be found in the actual Duke Nukem 3D game. It's a rather easy level with no real surprises, even on the harder difficulty levels. In my opinion, its perhaps the easiest secret level in Duke Nukem 3D with all the expansion packs covered, if not the easiest level in the entire game minus custom levels of course.

As seen in the picture above, the level has a rather linear design and not much opportunity to be diverted in any odd direction. It's actually one reason I kind of hated the level because it was too simple. I perfer to enjoy levels that are much more complex, however on the flip side using this level as inspiration made it a one day write when writing my latest book. Although in my story, I added plently of my own twists to enhance the story and enjoyment. Actually is the book version was the actual version, it would actually be harder that Duke 3D.

Here's a quick blurb on what the level is about: Ben falls into the sewer system of Ponce and attempts to find a way out of the sewers. He eventually finds a ladder that he takes up and finds himself in a casino close to the center of Ponce. He goes into the casino to investigate if he can turn his luck around for the better. Little does he know that the money in the video game world is as good as useless. Is lady luck on Ben's side or has his luck just run out?

A small but fun level if all you want to do is run and gun. There are a few secrets in the level that you might want to pay attention to.

Secrets of A Full House:

- The casino is located close to Ponce Plaza or the center of town.

- Get three 7's on one machine and you will be rewarded with much health!

- The Casino is based on a real life casino that is located in the center of Ponce, although it's never indicated in the story.

- Ben ends up in the sewers once he beats the level, not so much a secret, but still not a way you would normally leave a casino, right?

Difficulty level if an actual game: Easy

Actual Diffculty in Duke Nukem 3D: Easy - Medium

Players: One, this is Ben's secret level.

Well I know that was a short one, but the level is really that small and besides I'm not here to ruin the story for you. Hehe!
