Hey everyone, I hope all of you had a great new years day yesterday. I like to welcome you to the first blog post of 2018! I been busy today on my secret project and editing the new book of the Angel's Nightmare Adventure Series, Nemesis. So expect those to come out soon!
However, I wanted to give myself an honest report card. Let me see what I did right and what I can improve on. Be aware with so much on my plate it can be crowded for me to conquer everything.
So let's get started!
Sales (A): Very Good could have been even better.
Well for a noob like me only in his first and three-quarter year this is pretty good. I know these figures aren't groundbreaking, but I'm sure I did better than plently of indie authors.
I did an exact roll call on sales and I sold exactly 1,050 copies of my books. Like I said not groundbreaking, but great considering that the average indie author fails to sell even 100 in their lifetime. Of course that does not account for KU borrows and by hitting bestseller for Angel's Nightmare Adventure for a few months, I estimate that close to 500+ borrows were made for that book alone.
Now my sales would have been even better, but of course Hurricane Maria took me out for close to two months which sucked. I will admit my sales took a nose dip at the end of September into the month of October due to a lack of marketing or the ability to release any of my new books, Life's a Beach or Nemesis. November saw sales take an uptick due to releasing my new book and discounting the TTYW series and of course the hearts of my friends to help me out during my time of need. Overall, 10 times better than when I first started.
Fans (A+): Excellent
I made some great friends and fans this year. Whether it was on twitter or Facebook, you guys have been great. I earned myself a few superfans as well, which is a bonus for me. These same people stood up for me when it came to Maria. Hoping to keep the same momentum into 2018.
Blogs (B+): Great could be better
I tried to get my blog up and running with success. The only thing was that I decided to do this in the summer, missing out on the spring and later winter. Of course Hurricane Maria ruined things. If it seems Maria is being mentioned is because it was a huge reason why my year didn't end better than it could have.
Amount of Books (B+) Great, not what I wanted though
Well I published 3 books this year, I had an aim of 4-5 books. So I fell one book short of my goal, but I'm still unhappy about it. Yes, Hurricane Maria played a huge role. However, I was able to finish Life's a Beach and could have finished Nemesis as well if I had saved it on my cloud before the Hurricane. So Nemesis not coming out for Halloween is still partially my falut for not being proactive. This year I have a goal of 4-6 books to be released this year with number 1 coming out in Early February.
I know I'm being hard on myself considering I was hit by a hurricane, but I should have a bit more proactive. I guess I just didn't count on Maria being such a monster, after all alot of hurricanes have missed my island. Overall I give myself an A- to an A this past year. I feel I have done better in 2017 and it will carry on to 2018. Well, it's time for me to get to work! See you guys later!
