Hey fellow members of my dark society where zombies rule the lands, it's your God Demon of of GameLit Survivor Horror, Angel Ramon. I'm doing this blog post for two reasons. One is because I haven't done a blog post in a while since I been possessed by the zombies chasing me trying to make sure I finish the next novel. The second reason is, I want to update you on my progress of my newest book, Angel's Nightmare Adventure 1.5.
So I did 2,500 words fighting a back pain last night. I feel proud that despite the zombies trying to kill me, I managed to write a well-written boss fight haha! I'm 25,900 words in my work in progress and plan to do more tonight. I'm nearly done with story A, which has a MC named Hondo, an Ex-Boxer from Puerto Rico finds himself in a Hybrid produced zombie outbreak in the middle of White Plains, New York.
The 1.5 chapter are the untold events that took place between books 1 and 2. The 1.5 chapter is kind of my creative homage to the Resident Evil game that never got released which was RE 1.5. It was supposed to be the actual version of Resident Evil 2, but due to developmental differences, Capcom decided to scrap the 1.5 code entirely and start all over.
I was impressed by some of the places it had such as a police station that looked like an actual station instead of an art gallery like in the final version of 1.5. Also the sewer system was alot more detailed and had the look of an actual sewer that you would see in real life.
The storyline was never clear as the game was never finished. Some game programmers attempted to finish the game and they released a ROM that could be played on an emulator where about 40-50% of the game was finished, it even has a few cutscenes in-game. Too bad most of the later areas can only be navigated using the debug menu where you jump from area to area.
So I decided to kind of fill in the blanks while mixing in elements from my own universe that I've created. It has proved to be a bit challenging since most of the ideas I've come up have been original in nature. However, it has been fun to write so far.
I want to intoduce you to a new gadget that one of major characters in the book will find along with a new mechanic I'm introducing. If you're a fan of The Legend of Zelda, then you will remember the hookshot upgrade and the picture shown at top.
This character that I will only go as far as saying her name is Dawn and she will find herself in a situation where she will be unable to move around conventionally. Instead she will have to improvise with the hookshot and find a slab of wood to latch on in order to get to those hard to reach areas.
Of course, the hookshot won't be the only new mechanic in the new installment of my GameLit Survival Horror series. There will be more inculding the next one where one of the MC's (Hondo) will be an expert boxer and able to punch zombies as his special ability.
Until next time, I Angel need to get back to the basement and get back to writing! Stay weird my friends and I'll be back with another scary installment of my blog!
Note: Hookshot picture courtesy of Nintendo. I do not own the picture myself.
