Prehistoric Crisis: Water Temple

On this edition of my blog, we will dive into the region of Emerald Island in Prehistoric Crisis. When it comes to relation of the realm of DinoRule, it's to the far south. Emerald Island is on its own seperate island away from the mainland of DinoRule. The huge ocean seperates it from the rest of the realm.

While the island can be reached by swimming, there are far too many sea reptiles that can make quick work of even the bravest of swimmers. Instead the proper way to reach the island is to use pterodactyls and fly there. During the ride to the island, winds can ocassionally gust and make the ride a bit interesting. Usually the bigger threat is the amount of traffic and hitting another traveling pterodactyl. There is also the matter of wild pterodactyls that just go around and attack at random.

Pterodactyls that are used to travel back and forth are black in color. These are travelers and are usually tamer than the wild variety. The wild variety have a blue shade on them to make them distinguable from the travelers. While a wild pterodactyl can be tamed, they are tough to tame and will never obey 100% of the time.

When one lands on Emerald Island, they are greeted with a beautiful lake and town. However, the island has a very dreary feel to it and that's because of the constant rain that falls along with the fog. In fact, when Stephen lands on the island and enters the city, he will be reminded of his hometown in England. The constant dreary conditions are caused by the constant south wind that brings in the cooler air from the antarctic. The constant air from the south prevents any dry air from the mainland from coming in. As a result, Emerald Island is easily the wettest part of DinoRule.

Due to the contstant nature of the dreary conditions, the people are depressed constantly with the lack of sunlight. In fact, Emerald Island can go close to 350+ days without any sunlight. Only the rare North wind that would bury the rest of DinoRule in an ice age would warm Emerald Island and send the nimbostratus clouds down to the south.

After exploring the hidden beauty of the island inculding the mines and lush green meadows, there is the Water Temple. As seen above, it is located underwater and the only way to get inside is to sink down to the entrance and open the gate. A special water tunic is needed so the person can breathe while he/she is underwater.

When the correct items are obtained and one is able to enter the stone underwater building, they will be rewarded with quite a beautiful work of architecture. After getting above water, they are surprised by the fact that it's actually dry inside the temple despite it being underwater. One theory has the temple being the only remaining structure from Atlantis before it sank.

Looking at the walls, they are presented with a deep colorful royal blue color and the temple is made from limestone. In fact, if it wasn't infulenced by the evil clutches of Aries, it would be a tourist attraction. The temple is not without it's dangers though inculding death traps, sea spiders capable of tackling, and sea reptiles that can prove to be rather dangerous.

Sea reptiles species of Liopluerodons and Pliosauruses are underwater and have a very powerful bite. The bite is so strong that it can result in instant death if one gets caught. The temple is huge in nature and has quite the bad reputation for being hard to navigate. Many people who tried to enter the temple for purposes of evil found themselves unable to enter the valuable rooms or got lost due to the complex nature of the temple.

And yes, the temple is extremely complex. In fact, out of all the dungeons, the water temple is the largest and trickest to navigate. The dungeon map is pretty much a necessity rather than a want when exploring the temple. To add to the complexity, the water temple has four floors and when one enters the temple is submerged by water up to the top floor. The water level can be controlled by performing a certain spell in set locations. These can either drain or rise the water level in the temple. Certain locations can only be accessed by either a lower or higher water level.

The water temple is the most essential structure in Emerald Island as it controls the water level of the lake. Also, the mines of the island are dependent of the temple as well as the green crystals depend on water to keep their green color. Once the traveler explores the temple, they will reach the main hall of the temple that is supposed to be filled with water. The legendarly dinosaur or reptile of Emerald island is known as Viridian the Liopleurodon.

While Viridian can attack with its powerful bite, it can also drown out its victims by sending big waves of water to drown them out. It can use its tail to slam the victim as well. This is actually one of the easier legendary creatures to beat because it's not actually a dinosaur and it relies on water to survive.

The sage of the water temple is Dawn and she was also one of the orginial residents of DinoRule when it was founded. She was a nature protector and dedicated her whole life to taking care of hurt animals. She also dedicated her life to protecting the waters from predators or plunders. When Dawn live in Emerald Island, the island would be subject to beautiful weather everyday. The constant rain only started when Dawn dies and became the sage of the water element. Even in sage form, she is a kind and beautiful soul. Protecting the water temple, she's in charge of protecting the people of Emerald Island from storms and makes sure there is enough water to keep the balance in DinoRule.

So Emerald Island is actually quite a wonder to look at if you get past the poor weather conditions. Who knows, once the curse in the water temple is broken, maybe... just maybe sun will return to Emerald Island. Even with the depressing conditions, there is a hidden gem to be found. If one looks hard enough, one could be unlock riches on a misunderstood island.
